AMAZON
Amazon Australia
The Brief
Provide ongoing photographic and video documentation for the Education Pathways Program delivered by Amazon Australia in collaboration with More Butter.
Coverage spans school engagement initiatives across Western Sydney, including immersion days at Amazon offices, visits to fulfilment centres where students participate in coding and robotics sessions, and key program events such as AWS Teach Day. The brief also includes professional headshots of Amazon staff and documentation of official visits, with various politicians and Members of Parliament attending selected events.
The overall aim is to communicate the real impact of the program; expanding students’ awareness of future career pathways while showing Amazon’s role in supporting education and opportunity within the community.
The Approach
Because this work centres on young students, the approach is intentionally involved and engaged rather than observational. Building trust and genuine rapport with students is essential in order to photograph from within their world, not from the outside.
Spending time speaking with students, participating in activities, and allowing relationships to form creates space for more natural, intimate images that reflect curiosity, confidence, and connection. This relationship-driven approach ensures the final photographs feel honest to the experience of the program while still meeting the practical needs of documentation and communication.
The Deliverables
Ongoing photographic coverage across school visits, immersion days, fulfilment centre tours, and education events
Short-form video content documenting student participation, workshops, and volunteer engagement
Professional headshots of Amazon employees
Curated image libraries for internal communications, program reporting, and public storytelling
Challenges Faced
Working across multiple locations, age groups, and active learning environments requires constant adaptability. Balancing meaningful engagement with students while maintaining clear, usable coverage is central to the process.
Events involving large groups, operational fulfilment centres, and official guests also demand careful coordination, awareness of safety and protocol, and the ability to respond quickly to unscripted moments, all while keeping the focus on students and their experience of opportunity.
